About this programme
The FDC Academy is a further advancement from the Development Centre and works on the more technical aspects of the game. It trains alongside the Development groups and continues to mirror the FDC syllabus.
At this age players need more position-specific help and better tactical awareness, so sessions put more emphasis on phases of play and positional play. Within the Academy, players are encouraged to take ownership of their sessions and work with the coach to help develop them.

Representative squads
Representative squads are chosen from our Development Centre and Academy, based on players’ performances in training. To be considered, players must display the FDC values. These games let players showcase what they are learning, and depending on the month, different challenges are set in relation to the syllabus.
- Matches against other development centres, grassroots teams and academies
- A chance to show what they have learned in our centres
- In the past, players who have represented us have been invited to trials at academies and gone on to sign academy forms
MJPL squads
The MJPL squads are our highest level. Players must show all the qualities of the Academy and representative levels to be included. Once at this level, players are monitored weekly and reviewed at the end of each game. Players who show excellent performance levels can be put forward to the professional academies we have links with.
Where and when
Academy players train on Friday evenings at Studley, alongside the Development Centre groups. Ask us for your child’s group time.
